5 best greatest ever top nintendo games – post NES

In Features, Games on August 10, 2010 at 2:27 am

Inspired by Nintendo’s return to classic franchise priority, I will now share with you my Super Mario-free top5 list for Nintendo games everyone, I mean everyone able, NEEDS to play these (because as you know nintendo makes the most masterful games in the world so expect these to offer some of the greatest gaming experiences of all time) so here goes……..

5. Kirby’s Fun Pak

Also known as Kirby Super Star, this HAL creation was a great value game for the Super Nintendo in the mid-90’s before the generation cycle was complete. It featured no less than 8 doses of Kirby goodness, ranging from multiplayer minigames to full single player story challenges. I vividly remember carelessly burning away hours flittering through each game mode progressing, due to the title’s relative ease, everytime I continued at the chosen segment. Spring Fields, the intended landing point for a Kirby newbie in the game, has its tone and “feel” eternally etched in my system, conveying a warm and inviting world to become blissfully engrossed in. Finally, the Meta Knight Revenge story solidified my love for the Kirby universe. One thing that’s certain is Kirby doesn’t Suck or Blow….

4.Donkey Kong Country

This 1994 platformer had my parents playing all night for months….. It had 40 levels that felt like a hundred, Very impressive graphics, great character and design and most impressively, the soundtrack produced by Robin Beanland, David Wise and Evelyne Fisher was a flawlessly perfect compliment to the on-screen action.

This groundbreaking series started in 1990 with the Mode-7 using SNES title, unfortunately ,although wonderfully controlled, the graphics were distractingly weak. This problem continued in its successor with the main N64 edition that had frantic 30 racer gameplay and an adequate collection of content but sacrificed pleasant visual fidelity for a smooth 60fps rate. Then Sega’s AV came along and all I will say is PLAY IT!!!! If you have a Wii, get a GameCube pad or two and get a £9 second-hand copy of F-Zero GX, I promise you………

2.The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time

A great 2d-to-3d conversion, a task of which Nintendo is master, swords, exploration, time-travel, magic, fishing, shooting, explosions, hookshotting, a princess, fairies, monsters, horses, frogs, big talking trees, werewolves, sunsets, emotion, wonder.

This should be number one, the ending to this game is the greatest piece of art I have ever seen……

1.Metroid Prime Trilogy

Nuff sed…..

All I will say is if you get this and play it the right way (scanning everything, clocking 80%+ and experiencing the other installments) you will be bessotted, exclusively playing metroid games for like a year and a half, straight dreaming of Samus……
